4×4 Scenic Safaris and Nature Tours
Climb into one of our modern 4×4 vehicles and let your adventure to the High Country begin. We offer half day – full day or overnight safaris into some of New Zealand’s wildest country. Highlights include: farm animals, a taste of farm life, historical sites, stunning scenery, endless photo opportunities and exclusive access to iconic High Country Stations with a knowledgeable local guide.
Lakeside 4×4 Safari
Duration: 4 hrs
This is a real must see with scenery and lake views second to none, abundant bird life and an array of farm animals including sheep, cattle, deer and horses. Many locals thought a road into this high country farm was an impossible task but the station owners at the time proved them wrong, an amazing accomplishment which entailed many hair raising moments including one bull dozer being lost into the lake.
Lindis Hills 4×4 Safari
Duration: 4 hrs – 7hrs
Travel into the Lindis Pass and sneak off the highway into the snow tussock. This iconic property which once encompassed a staggering 350,000 acres has over 100 km’s of available tracks. Finish the tour at one of the most impressive historic buildings in New Zealand – The amazing stone woolshed with 37 shearing stands. This can be a soft 4×4 tour right through to a real off road adventure.
Top of the lake 4×4 safari
Duration: 8 hrs
We travel beyond the Lakeside Safari, along a private 4×4 track towards the head of Lake Hawea and the mouth of the Hunter River. This Journey will take you to Green Bush hut, an historic private mustering hut. This is your lunch stop where your guide will brew up a cup of tea or coffee and offer you some treats from the goody bag. Expect stunning views of Lake Hawea; experience the wilderness and the wild upper reaches of Lake Hawea and the Hunter River.
Overnight 4×4 Safari
Duration: 24 hrs
Many of the High Country Stations we have access to have accommodation and a number of back country huts. The standard of accommodation varies from basic to very comfortable. Many of the huts have 4×4 access right to them, meaning we can unload straight out of the vehicle with little or no hiking required. Kick back by the fire and enjoy a local beer or wine while your guide cooks you a back country meal.
